New Delhi: At a time when confirmed cases of Coronavirus have climbed to 11,933, the good news is that containment and management strategies of the government have worked well in controlling the spread of the virus as India registered above 3 per cent increase in recovery rate during the first phase of lockdown.
As per the available case records on the Health Ministry's website, the recovery of Coronavirus patients has increased from 8 per cent on March 24 to 11.2 per cent on Wednesday (April 15). Out of 11,933 confirmed cases, 1,344 patients have been discharged.
With 91 per cent recovery rate, Andaman and Nicobar Islands has taken a lead among all 32 COVID-19 affected states/UTs as of the 11 corona patients, 10 have been discharged. With 5 recoveries out of 7 patients, Goa has recorded 71.4 per cent recovery. After Goa, Ladakh has also performed well as the newly formed UT has registered a 58.8 per cent recovery rate. The UT has 17 positive cases and 10 cured.
In Kerala, which has become successful in COVID-19 containment, patients recovered at the rate of 55 per cent as out of 387 positive cases in the state, 211 people have won the corona battle.
In Manipur, out of two cases, one has recovered putting the recovery rate at 50 per cent in the state, while other COVID-19 hit northeastern states, including Tripura, have not reported any recovery.
Bihar, which "unwillingly" shared its recovery report with the Union Health Ministry, reported 41.4 per cent recovery rate. The state, which is at sixth position in terms of recoveries, took five days to send its report as Bihar's Principal Secretary (Health) Sanjay Kumar had twitted about 15 recoveries on April 7 and the data was updated at Union Health Ministry's website on May 12.
So far, both Himachal Pradesh and Chhattisgarh have registered recoveries at the rate of 39.3 per cent each, while Odisha has reported 30 per cent recovery as 18 out of 60 COVID-19 patients have been cured. In Karnataka, the recovery rate is 27 per cent and 75 out of 277 patients have been discharged. In Uttarakhand, the recovery rate is 24.3 per cent and 9 out of 37 patients have been discharged.
Telangana recorded recovery of patients at 18.5 per cent, while West Bengal and Haryana share an equal rate of recovery at 17 per cent. In West Bengal, 37 out of 213 patients have been discharged and in Haryana, 34 out of 199 patients won the fight against the virus. In Rajasthan, 14.6 per cent of Covid-19 patients have been treated, while Jammu & Kashmir witnessed 11 per cent recoveries.
With just 2 per cent patients getting well, recovery rate in Delhi has reduced witnessed 18 per cent decline in the last 22 days as on March 24, the recovery rate of the national capital was 20 per cent.
Maharashtra, which has maximum number of positive cases, reported recoveries at 9.6 per cent as out of total 2,687 cases, so far 259 patients have been discharged. In Tamil Nadu, patients are recovering at the rate of 6.7 per cent, while in Punjab the percentage of recovery is 7.5 per cent, Madhya Pradesh (6.4 per cent), Gujarat (8.4 per cent) and Uttar Pradesh (6.7 per cent.)
