New Delhi: The CBI on Thursday conducted raids at five places in a small Gwalior village in connection with a four-year-old murder case of villager Salik Ram and has registered three separate cases to probe the matter, officials here said.
The Central Bureau of Investigation took up the cases on orders of the Gwalior Bench of the Madhya Pradesh High Court, which had ruled that the initial probe by local police and the Special Investigative Team seemed suspicious.
The CBI raided the houses of five accused, Surender, Majboot, Narender, Jeetu, Ramniwas in Raziyar village of Gwalior, from where officials recovered 36 12 bore live cartridges, one .315 live cartridge, 29 8mm live cartridges
along with 18 12 bore used cartridges and 14 8mm used cartridges.
The CBI also recovered on single-shot firearm and arms license-related documents along with several mobile phones, which could be crucial to the probe.
At the time of handing the case over to the CBI, the court had also noted the need to probe the role of police officials who had investigated the case earlier.
