Kolkata: ETP launched at Noapara Carshed

Kolkata: An Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP), designed to treat 5 cubic meters of industrial wastewater per hour, was inaugurated at the Noapara Carshed here on Thursday.

The facility was officially launched by Kuntal Mitra, a senior technician at Metro Railway, in the presence of P. Uday Kumar Reddy, general manager of Metro Railway.

The inauguration event also witnessed the unveiling of a state-of-the-art 33 KV DC Traction sub-station by senior technician Gopal Majumdar. This sub-station boasts the highest DC Traction capacity in India at 15 MW and will provide power to the trains and various electrical systems within the metro network.

Furthermore, GM Reddy laid the foundation stone for a 7.5 MW Solar Power Plant at the Noapara Carshed. The plant is expected to significantly reduce the carbon footprint of operations by cutting down emissions by 3,750 metric tonnes annually.

P. Sreelatha, president of the Metro Railway Women’s Welfare Organization (MRWWO), was also present during the ceremony.
