Chandigarh: A delegation of the Punjab Arhtiya (commission agents) Association met Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini at his Sant Kabir Kutir residence to discuss issues concerning arhtiyas in Punjab.

The delegation informed the Chief Minister that around 40,000 arhtiyas, nearly 1.25 lakh accountants (munims), and 6–7 lakh workers are associated with this system in Punjab.

They said the ongoing strike in Punjab is affecting not only business activities but also the livelihoods of lakhs of families. Despite talks with the government, no resolution has been reached. The delegation added that during the current crop procurement season, farmers, labourers, and arhtiyas are all facing hardships.

Expressing concern, the CM said he had visited Punjab multiple times and observed widespread distress among farmers, traders, and labourers. He criticized the Aam Aadmi Party government for failing to address these problems, claiming its policies have weakened Punjab’s economy and pushed the state towards financial strain.

Meanwhile, Saini has demonstrated prompt administrative action by directing concrete steps to implement budget announcements within just one month of presenting the state budget. He instructed concerned departments to prepare detailed action plans to ensure timely and effective execution.

The CM reviewed progress with officials from departments including Energy, Health, Revenue, Excise and Taxation, Cooperation, Development and Panchayats, Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Fisheries.
