Gurugram: In view of a major court verdict that is to be delivered on Friday, Haryana and Punjab governments are taking no chances and have banned the Internet and transportation services in its districts for 72 hours.
The digital hub of the state, Gurugram, however, has escaped this ban. Faridabad is the other district where Internet service will not be banned. Compared to other districts of the state, its southern districts have less number of followers of Dera Sacha Sauda. In an official report submitted to the Government, Deputy Commissioner Vinay Pratap Singh highlighted that there are around 5000 followers of Dera Sacha Sauda sect.
The Gurugram district administration has begun taking precautionary measures to prevent any trouble that may emanate post the verdict of special CBI court in a rape case in which Gurmeet Ram Rahim is an accused.
On Thursday the law enforcers carried out checks in important areas like bus stand and railway stations. A public and private bus that goes to areas like Chandigarh, Sirsa and Bahadurgarh has also been halted prior to the judgement.
