DU: EWS & OBC non-creamy layer students can get provisional admission via acknowledgement receipt
New Delhi: Hundred of students from the marginalsed section of OBC non-creamy layer and economically weaker section (EWS) students can get provisional admission in Delhi University by using acknowledgement receipt from authorities if there is a delay in procuring category certificate, an official said. This decision was finalised at the meeting of the Standing Committee of Admissions, the official said. "In several places, including Delhi, there has been a delay by the authorities in issuing EWS certificates and certificate to aspirant associated with the non creamy layer. Due to this, Delhi University decided that candidates can upload acknowledgment receipt at the time of admission."
Students can get provisional admission in Delhi University by using acknowledgement receipt from authorities if there is a delay in procuring category certificate, an official said. "In several places, including Delhi, there has been a delay by the authorities in issuing EWS certificates. Due to this, Delhi University decided that candidates can upload acknowledgement receipt at the time of admission. They will be required to submit an undertaking which will state that they will submit the EWS certificate within 15 days of getting admission to the college," Professor Rasal Singh, a standing committee member, said.
"It is hereby notified that the applicants who have applied for the EWS / OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) certificates and have not received the same till date may upload the Acknowledgement Receipt of the application for issuance of the said certificate towards consideration of their application," reads DU website.
Professor Rasal Singh, Member, academic council said, "Similar to the EWS category, the varsity has decided to provide the exemption to the COB-non-creamy layer certificate holders. The official also informed that due the lack of awareness and the lackadaisical approch among the clerical staff of the government official, many applicants belong to this category could not get the certificate, subsequently, a large number of applicants are being deprived of benefit given by the constitution.
Therefore, the Delhi University has decided that applicant from these two categories can upload the acknowledgment receipt after obtaining the certificate at the time of registration and can take admission by giving the undertaking during the online registration. He also informed that after accomplishment of the admission process, aspirants will have to submit the original certificate along with the other documents at the time of the verification.
