New Delhi: The new generation ticket booking system is all set to offer user-friendly features such as changing of boarding point if required, enquiring/searching trains and checking availability of seats without login, etc.
According to a senior Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) official, the major attraction of the revamped booking system is its new feature of
'waitlist prediction', through which one can predict the chance of a waitlisted or RAC ticket getting confirmed on the basis of historical booking trends.
"Different filters as per departure/arrival time, class, train, and quota have been provided for facilitating journey planning of the passengers. The user-friendly layout of the portal has been prepared in such a way that passengers would modify their journey details without any hassle," the official said, adding that the availability lookup for other days and fare break up has also been provided.
"The feature of managing the payment options by marking six banks as preferred banks under My Profile' section has also been provided to fast-track the ticket booking during peak hours," the official said, adding that the enhanced 'Vikalp' feature with easy navigation provides user, the option of choosing alternate accommodation in case of waitlist tickets in different trains, including specials.
Technological innovations in the development of new user interface have been deployed to facilitate seamless navigation in mobiles, desktops, laptops and tablets.
