New Delhi: In a major decision, the Uttar Pradesh government on Thursday recommended a CBI inquiry against former managing director of UP sugar cooperative sugar factories federation BK Yadav on charges of committing serious financial irregularities during his tenure between December 2013 and May 2017.
The decision was taken after the state government initiated a probe following complaints against Yadav of making 'illegal' money while conducting appointments, promotions and transferring staff of sugar mills and federation.
The CBI probe into the matter has been recommended by Sanjay Bhoosreddy, the principal secretary of sugar industry and cane development department, after examining the preliminary investigation report of Lucknow Commissioner.
"The decision has been taken in view of state government's zero-tolerance policy against corruption. It would be a lesson for others as the UP government led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is committed to make the state a corruption free," Bhoosreddy said.
Bhoosreddy, in his in his report submitted with the state government, said that Yadav also took money for making payments of retirement benefits like gratuity, leave encashment and other dues, posting junior officers on senior posts as incharge. The report also accused Yadav of indulging in corruption in inventory procurement request for modification and expansion of cooperative sugar mills.
Presently posted as director cooperative and farmer welfare, Yadav also faces allegation of disposing off enquiry against federation's deputy chief chemist Chetan Sharma who was facing serious charges of embezzlement and illegal sale of sugar and molasses.
