BJP to scrap Art 370 if voted back to power: Shah

Bilaspur/Shimla: Beginning his poll campaign in Himachal Pradesh, which goes to the poll on May 19, BJP national president Amit Shah on Sunday announced categorically that Article 370, which gives special powers to Jammu and Kashmir, will be scrapped.

The BJP, in its election manifesto, has promised to abrogate Article 370.

Addressing a series of rallies in Himachal Pradesh in three Parliamentary constituencies of Kangra, Hamirpur and Shimla, Shah said: "If Narendra Modi is voted to power, the Article 370 will be scrapped".

BJP president reminded the voters about Pulwama tragedy and launched a blistering attack against Congress president Rahul Gandhi.

"The glow on Rahul Gandhi's face vanished after India 's army gave a befitting and launched an air strike at Balakot inside the Pakistan territory," he said. He recalled that there were only two places where there was mourning after the air strike against the militants preparing attacks against India. These two places were Pakistan and Rahul Gandhi camp. Making a sharp dig at the opposition, Amit Shah asked "Why were you mourning Rahul Baba. Were those militants your uncles anyways?"

He also made mounted a strong attack against former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for his series of tweets and statements demanding second Prime Minister in India for Jammu and Kashmir. Why is Congress president silent, shah wondered.

Here, he said conspiracies to disintegrating India, and create problems in Kashmir will not be allowed to succeed as the Congress has promised to scrap sedition law and withdraw /dilute Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA), which gives protection to the armed forces fighting Pakistani militants.

"Rahul (Gandhi) is free to sign Ilu-Ilu with those supporting terrorism and putting India's security to a threat but Narendra Modi is capable to returning every bullet effectively so that morale of the Indian army and its valour is never allowed to fall," said he.

At Bilaspur rally in Hamirpur Parliamentary constituency in support of three time MP Anurag Thakur, Amit Shah made a promise. "You elect Anurag with a record margin, I will ensure making him a big leader. It's my responsibility to carve out a larger role for Anurag Thakur because I have seen his working," he declared.
