The Rajya Sabha, for a while, experienced a glimpse of BJP's emphatic win in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand assembly elections when Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the Upper House during the Question Hour for about 15 minutes.

The PM, in his first appearance in the House since the results of the assembly elections in five states were declared, got a "roaring" welcome by party members when members of Opposition taunted at him saying that "dekho, dekho kaun aaya hai (look who has come)", to which BJP members responded saying "Hindustan ka sher aaya hai (the lion of India has arrived)."

The Opposition looked quite uncomfortable when the members of the Treasury bench rose to welcome the Prime Minister who stepped into the Upper House at 12:10 hours on Thursday. Modi sat through the Question Hour for 15 minutes and listened to queries raised by members on vacancies in Kendriya Vidyalayas and cases of manual scavenging.
