New Delhi: To highlight the 'significance' of the Union government's decision to nullify Article 370 and 35A in Jammu and Kashmir and its development agenda among the masses, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced a month-long nationwide 'Janjagaran' contact programme, commencing from September 1 till the end of the month.
The saffron party also formed two high-level committees, which will be led by Union ministers Dharmendra Pradhan, Pralhad Joshi and Gajendra Singh Shekhawat. Ladakh MP Jamyang Tsering Namgyal, and another youth
leader and BJP MP Tejaswi Surya also will lead the respective teams.
Small sub-groups of other state-level party leaders, general secretaries and office bearers have also been formed who will conduct the programmes, including 35 big cities and 370 smaller towns. State capitals are also included.
Sources said, BJP national president Amit Shah and Working president JP Nadda will also participate in the campaign.
While addressing the mediapersons here on Monday, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said that the programmes will be conducted keeping the respective chief ministers and deputy chief ministers in the loop. Nine places, including four in the Kashmir valley, have been chosen in the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir for the exercise, he said.
Pradhan said the decision on revoking Article 370 was "historic" and one of the few moments in the history of independent India that united people across political and ideological divides.
