Andaman & Nicobar reports more COVID-19 recoveries than fresh cases

Port Blair: The Union Territory of Andaman and Nicobar Islands reported more COVID-19 recoveries than fresh cases, as 65 people recuperated from the disease while 23 new infections, pushed the tally to 9,867, a health department official said on Friday.

A total of 9,490 people have recovered from COVID-19 so far, the official said.

The COVID-19 death toll in the archipelago remained at 129 as no fresh fatality was reported in the last 24 hours.

The union territory now has 248 active COVID-19 cases, of which only eight patients are admitted to hospital while the rest 240 are in home quarantine, he said.

The archipelago had reported 18 new COVID-19 cases and and 63 recoveries on Thursday.

The administration has far tested 6,85,968 samples for COVID-19 and the cumulative test positivity rate is 1.44 per cent.

A total of 6,04,759 beneficiaries have been inoculated with COVID-19 vaccine, with 3,04,396 receiving the first dose and 3,00,363 both doses of the vaccine, the official said.

At least 23,000 beneficiaries in the 15-18 age-group have been vaccinated and 6,178 people have received precautionary dose.
