Amita Prasad is new inland waterways' authority chief and AK Jha to lead NPC

New Delhi: In a bureaucratic reshuffle, the government has transferred one secretary level and six additional secretary-level officials to different departments.

According to a government order, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC), which is chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved the appointment of Amita Prasad, an 85-batch Karnataka cadre IAS officer, has been appointed as chairperson of Inland Waterways Authority of India, an arm of Ministry of Shipping, in the rank and pay of secretary.

Similarly, Arun Kumar Jha, a 1985-batch IES official, has been appointed as director-general of National Productivity Council (NPC), an arm of Commerce & Industry Ministry. Jha was presently in his cadre.

Other officers who have been given new assignments include Jyoti Arora, 87-batch Haryana cadre IAS. Arora, presently in the cadre, has been appointed as additional secretary and financial advisor in the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology by temporarily upgrading the vacant post of joint secretary and FA.

Rajesh Verma, 87-batch Odisha cadre IAS, has been appointed as additional secretary in the Agriculture Ministry; while Indevar Pandey, 88-batch West Bengal cadre IAS, has been shifted to Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region as additional secretary by temporarily upgrading a vacant post of joint secretary.

Bharat Lal, an 88-batch Gujarat cadre forest officer, has been shifted to Jal Shakti Ministry as additional secretary. Lal was the additional secretary to the President.

Shashank Priya, an 88-batch IRS officer, has been appointed as additional secretary & financial advisor in the Commerce Ministry against an existing vacancy.
