28-year-old UPSC aspirant denied entry to exam hall, commits suicide

NEW DELHI: A 28-year-old civil services aspirant committed suicide after he was denied entry to the examination hall for the preliminary test on Sunday since he didn't reach the centre, police said on Monday.
According to police, the deceased identified as Varun, a native of Kumta in Karnataka was living in a rented accommodation in Old Rajinder Nagar. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Mandeep Singh Randhawa stated that the incident came to light when they received a PCR call at 5:55 pm on Sunday in Rajender Nagar police station. The caller told police that a man committed suicide on the ground floor of a house in Old Rajinder Nagar. " Our police team reached the spot and found the person hanging from the ceiling fan. The body was shifted to RML hospital, and crime team was called to the spot. A suicide note was recovered in the room," said the DCP.
"The suicide note revealed that he had reached the examination centre after the closure of entry. Being late, he was refused entry. That is why he committed suicide," the official said.
Chandran had gone to appear for the exam at Sarvodaya Bal Vidyalaya at Kaseruwalan in Paharganj.
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducted this year's Civil Services Preliminary Exam on Sunday at various test centres across the country.
