211 districts in Corona grip

NEW DELHI: It seems the Centre, which is still struggling to get the required quantity of equipment to deal with the national health emergency, needs to work on war footing level as about 29 per cent of the total districts of the country are  in the grip of Coronavirus. According to the Health Ministry's report, a total of 211 districts out of 736 are facing Covid-19 challenge, with some districts of Maharashtra, Ker- ala, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, etc are turning out to be the epicentre of  the highly infectious disease.

The maximum number of Covid-19 cases reported from Maharashtra's Mumbai, which has witnessed 174 positive cases till Thursday. Kerala's Kasargod has reported 115  cases. Similarly, Delhi's South Delhi district has reported 63 cases, while Uttar Pradesh's Gautam Buddh Nagar district has registered 45 cases and Gujarat's Ahmedabad has 33 Covid-19 confirmed cases. The situation is getting worse in Maharashtra as 19 out of 36 districts are hit by Covid-19. Apart from Mumbai, other worst affected districts are Pune (49), Sangli (24), Thane (20)  and Nagpur (18).  In Kerala, Delhi and Ladakh, corona positive cases  have been reported from all 14, 11 and 2 districts of the respec- tive states. The most affected districts of Kerala are Kannur(49), Ernakulam (23), Thiruvananthapuram (13), Mallapuram (11) and Thrissur (11). 

In Tamil Nadu, Chennai reported a maximum of 37 cases, followed by  Coimbatore (29), Tirunelveli (29), Erode (26), Theni (20) and Dindu-  gal 17. In Karnataka, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (Greater Bangalore) reported 30 and Mysore recorded 18 Covid-19 cases. In Telangana, Hyderabad reported 44 cases. In Jammu & Kashmir, Srinagar reported 25 cases followed by  Bandipora (11). In Uttar Pradesh, besides  GB Nagar, Meerut recorded 19 Covid-19 cases followed by Agra (12) and Ghaziabad (8).In West Bengal, Kolkata has  reported 17 cases of Covid-19. Rajasthan's Bhilwara reported  26 cases, Punjab's SBS Nagar has 19 cases, Gujarat's Gandhi-nagar and Rajkot 10 cases each, Haryana's Gurugram 24  cases and Andhra Pradesh's Prakasam district reported 15  cases.

Meanwhile, Health Min- istry has on Friday said that   around  ,000 tests have been conducted in the last 24 hours   across the country, which is highest in a single day.According to the data provided by the Union Ministry, with an increase of  232 new cases, total 2,301 con- firmed cases reported on Fri-  day, out of which 2,088 are active, 157 have recovered andthe number of deaths increased  from 53 to 56. The ministry further said that as many as 647 Covid- 19 positive cases found in 14 states and 2 UTs in the last twodays are linked to the Tablighi  Jamaat congregation and out of the 12 deaths reported in the   last 24 hours, some are related to the Tablighi Jamaat. The cases have been reported from Andaman and  Nicobar, Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Himachal Pradesh,  Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi and Puducherry.
