Gururgam: Two officials from Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) have been suspended after it was found that they had given an allotment letter to a shopping complex in Plam Vihar without complying with the norms.
The shopping complex was built in 1998.
Despite knowing the basic details of the case, the two HUDA officials issued the allotment letter to the owners in June, defying even their seniors. After the irregularity came to the notice of higher authorities, action was sought against the erring officials. It was not an easy task though and the matter only came to light through an internal audit.
"The allotment letter have been issued without examining the facts, orders, law and policy of the subject. The actions of issuance of the allotment letters on your part is seen to be beyond your jurisdiction as also without the orders of the competent authority. This is a huge lapse on your part and has caused huge financial losses to the HUDA," was a strongly worded letter from HUDA headquarters in Panchkula.
Meanwhile, the two suspended officials have been transferred to HUDA Panchkula where they have been given a week to file their written reply.
Irregularities of causing loss to the exchequer is not a new scenario in HUDA. In another set of allegations there are claims that some HUDA officials tried to deliberately reduce the Floor to Area Ratio (FAR) of an industrial plot that caused windfall gains to its owner.
