15 days advance booking for Kumbh Mela from 11 stations in Prayagraj

New Delhi: Indian railways has more good news for the pilgrims and tourists coming to visit the Kumbh Mela scheduled to be organised in the city of Prayagraj from January 15, 2019. In view of the enormous rush of people expected to visit the city to participate in the Kumbh Mela, to help the people as a special case it has been decided by the Ministry of Railways to allow 15 days advance booking of unreserved railway tickets from 11 stations lying in the Prayagraj region, and serving the Kumbh Mela.

The stations from which this advance booking of unreserved tickets will be allowed are: Allahabad Junction, Allahabad City, Naini, Subedarganj,Prayag, Prayag Ghat, Daraganj, Phaphamau, Jhunsi, Vindhyachal, Allahabad Chheoki and back. The return tickets shall be allowed to be booked up to 15 days in advance excluding the date of the journey.

If a passenger at Nagpur wishes to purchase a ticket to any station in Allahabad Mela area and back, he/she can purchase the same 15 days in advance.

Speaking on the facility, GM/NCR Rajiv Chaudhry said that Railways is very sensitive to the needs of the pilgrims, tourists and other regular passengers who will be visiting the city of Prayagraj during the period of the Kumbh Mela.
