This came after Mumbai-based Islamic preacher and televangelist Zakir Naik’s claim that a terrorist involved in the recent Dhaka terror attack was his follower. I&B Minister Venkaiah Naidu said, “I appeal to the people also that if they see any unauthorised channels on cable networks, they should inform I&B Ministry.”
Earlier, Naidu claimed that Naik’s 'Peace TV' is affecting the peace across the country. “Peace TV had applied for license in 2008 but it was rejected. So its broadcast is already illegal. I appeal to the people that if they see any unauthorised channel on their cable networks, they should inform the Information and Broadcasting Ministry," Naidu claimed on Sunday to media.
The ministry (after meeting on Zakir Naik) also issued an advisory to all cable operators, asking local district administration to keep an eye on broadcast of these local cables in the last week.
