Anger and frustration led a man to brutally murder his own elder brother who was a Delhi University assistant professor in North Delhi’s Burari. The accused has been sent to two days’ remand.

The incident happened late on Sunday night, when 28-year-old Delhi University assistant professor Hitesh Kumar Verma scolded his younger brother Himanshu (24) for neglecting his studies and not studying for his exam. Himanshu went outside the house, took a break and later murdered his brother with a dumbell.

The weapon of offence was hid under the bed. Sources say that Himanshu did not panic after murdering his brother, instead he flung the body of the deceased into a drain from the window.

The 24 year-old then woke up the tenants and the landlord in the building and concocted a story about three to four men barging into the room and killing his brother.

The police say Himanshu gave a call at around 3 pm. Hitesh was rushed to the hospital but was declared brought dead.

Hitesh taught Sanskrit in PGDAV College in South Campus, while Himanshu was pursuing Master’s in Sanskrit from Shivaji College in Rajouri Garden.

When Himanshu narrated the sequence of events, the cops grew suspicious. There were too many loopholes in his version.

“The landlords live at the ground floor. There is only one entrance and there was no sign of forced entry. Neither there seems to be a motive. The important point was Himanshu was unharmed,” said a police officer.

Realising the police has nailed him, Himanshu broke down and confessed to the murder.
