Murder accused falls ill during police interrogation, dies in hospital

A 25-year-old murder accused, who had taken ill during interrogation, died at a hospital in Ajmer on Thursday, police said.

Venkesh Sharma was a co-accused in a case of murder that took place on October 24 and was being interrogated by the Nagaur police on Wednesday.

He complained of vomiting and loose motion, following which he was admitted to the JLN Hospital in Ajmer on Wednesday night. He died in the wee hours on Thursday, police said.

“He was called for interrogation on Monday morning and sent back home the same day. He was summoned again on Tuesday for interrogation and confessed to have been involved in the murder,” IG Ajmer Malini Agrawal said.

“During the investigation process, he started vomiting.  He was admitted to the hospital in Ajmer where he died on Thursday,” she said. There was no atrocity or injury to him and the matter is being probed, she said, adding that he was not under arrest. Another police officer said that Venkesh, who worked in a private college, was taken to a doctor in Parbatsar town of Nagaur who referred him to Ajmer hospital.
