Parliamentary secretary to Delhi chief minister and CLP spokesperson Mukesh Sharma said on Wednesday that that the Budget would go a long way in providing ample opportunities of welfare and upliftment to almost all poor people in the state, including the weaker sections of the society. While giving final touches to the Budget, Dikshit has kept in mind the needs of infrastructure development and social sector.
‘This is the first ever Budget wherein no new tax has been imposed and no hike has been proposed in existing taxes,’ said Sharma. Welcoming the Budget 2013-14, Sharma added that the proposed hike in monthly pension from ‘Rs 1000 to 1500 for all needy women, widows and aged people would go a long way in making their lives comfortable. Apart from this, scholarships for SC/ST students have been rationalised. The budget can be termed as pro-people and progress-oriented, and will accelerate the pace of Delhi’s progress in becoming the best Capital in the world,’ Sharma added.
