Parliamentary secretary to the Chief Minister and Congress Legislative Party (CLP) spokesperson Mukesh Sharma has demanded the construction of at least four Underground Reservoirs (UGRs) to overcome drinking water scarcity in the Bindapur group of colonies and surrounding villages, which have remained without water due to inaction of MLA’s like Dharam Deo Solanki and Sat Prakash Rana.
He has also demanded more supply of water from Dwarka Command Area 2. Sharma has said that the government headed by Sheila Dikshit has started improvement in the are of water supply after bringing a big change in the area power supply.
Sharma has been expressing these views in several meetings organized to exhort people to join the 9 June rally to be addressed by Dikshit in Bindapur.
He has addressed meetings in Vishnu Vihar and Bhagwati Vihar, and underlined the need to release 80 MGD water through Munak Canal in order to mitigate water woes in the entire west Delhi area.
Sharma exhorted the Haryana goverment to change its rigid attitude and work on the ideas of the Union government, the Prime Minister, Water Resources minister and Central Water Commission.
He further stated that the city government has laid water pipe lines in 937 unauthorised colonies, and piped supply is available in 800 such colonies.
