Bringing together the idea of corporate social responsibility (CSR) with department of disability affairs, the ministry of social justice organised a two-day summit on ‘linking disability domains with CSR strategies’. Held in the capital on Thursday the event was attended by Stuti Kacker, secretary, disability affairs along by Awanish Kumar Awasthi, joint secretary in the department, Ranjan Mohapatra, chairman Vision Foundation and others.
Kacker, who was the chief guest, said that nowadays CSR was being hailed the latest mantra and even corporates needed to include disability affairs in their CSR initiatives. ‘We must understand that helping someone or creating opportunities for people with a disabilities by corporates is not doing charity it is a philosophy which needs to be imbibed by them,’ she explained. Corporates have the power to bring about a change in the country and now it is time that they take action in this segment as well, she added.
