The country is all set to witness the grand launching of Swachh Bharat Mission by PM Narendra Modi on 2 October, the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Modi said in a message, ‘A clean India is the best tribute we can pay to Bapu when we celebrate his 150th birth anniversary in 2019. Mahatma Gandhi devoted his life so that India attains ‘Swarajya’. On 2nd October, I will set out with a broom and contribute towards this pious task.’ Earlier, union minister Nitin Gadkari said the mission will make India an open defecation free country in five years. He said, Rs 1,34,000 crore will be spent for constructing 1,11,00,000 toilets across India.
