Highlighting the warm ties that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and China’s president Xi Jinping shared, the Chinese Ambassador to India, Le Yucheng said that the strong ties could help resolve tensions along India’s northeastern border.

“There is a strong chemistry between the two leaders. Certainly the chemistry of our leaders will help to improve our relations, to strengthen the mutual trust, and to increase cooperation, to address the problems, the sensitive issues including the border issues,” Yucheng said.

Yucheng was speaking in Goa at an exploratory meet with the Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry. As part of his visit, Yucheng met with chief minister Laxmikant Parsekar and local industrialists to try and identify viable sectors to invest in.

The Chinese Ambassador also stressed that the slowdown in the Chinese economy was not a major concern. “We have moderated our speed of growth. Fast speed growth is not sustainable we realized and we are now at a stage of restructuring our economy. We want a better and healthier economic structure,” said Yucheng, who served as China’s ambassador to Kazakhstan, earlier.
