NCP president Sharad Pawar feels that BJP may not be able to form a government with Narendra Modi’s leadership.
He also does not see the possibility of a Third Front government saying the government after elections will either be led by Congress or be supported by it.
‘I cannot say. I said that in coalition politics very few partners, political parties will support BJP this time with this leadership,’ Pawar told CNN-IBN.
He was asked if he sees Modi emerging as the prime minister in a coalition government.
On the possibility of a Third Front, he said it is too early to say. As of now, I don’t see the possibility of a Third Front. Ultimately, if we are to form a government here, either it will be Congress-led government or Congress supported government.
‘If leadership like (Atal Bihari) Vajpayee was there, comfort level of other parties were much better than today’, he said.
‘And that is why, a sizeable section accepted Vajpayee as a leader and he could provide a stable government for five years. So it depends on that. I don’t see the Third Front concept has any potential this time,’ Pawar said.
To another question on Modi, he said for a coalition, there has to be a person and leadership which is acceptable to a sizeable number of parties.
