Mock security drill conducted at NSC Bose Airport

Passengers at the NSC Bose International Airport on Tuesday had a scary experience when the bomb disposal squad and sniffer dogs scanned every corner for hidden bombs, but in the end it turned out to be a mock security drill.

Airport officials here said that the drill was conducted periodically to check the preparedness of different security agencies in the airport and coordination among them.

The drill is also necessary to find out if there is any security loophole and suggest measures to plug it. The entire operation was conducted by the Airports Authority of India and the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security.

Personnel of the fire brigade, police, CISF, which is in charge of airport security, bomb squad and some agencies were also involved in the mock drill. The drill was conducted when flight and passenger movement was comparatively less.
