A 17-year-old girl, who went missing on Thursday, was found dead at a male friend's rented accommodation in the Rohini area of outer Delhi, a police official said on Friday. The girl's family protested outside the Mangolpuri police station and damaged two Delhi Transport Corporation buses, alleging police delay in investigation.
'The class XII student did not return home from school on Thursday . Her parents filed a missing complaint with the police at approximately 6 pm, and within hours we were informed by the victim’s friend that she had hanged herself in his rented accommodation,' said a police official.
According to police, at approximately 8 pm they received a call at the control room stating that the girl has committed suicide. According to police officials, she was found lying on the floor and with blood having trickled from her nose and mouth. Police questioned the victim's 20-year-old friend, who told the officials that the girl had come to meet him at his room. 'He then went out, saying he will be back soon. But, when he returned, he found her hanging from the ceiling fan,' said a police official. He lifted the body down to the floor and informed the police. The official said that the police has recovered a suicide note from the house.
'The girl might have committed suicide. We are verifying the (authenticity of the) suicide note and are questioning the male friend,' the official added. Police is also waiting for the report of post-mortem examination for further investigation. 'We are probing into the matter, and further investigation is in process,' said a police official. The boy’s family lives near the girl's house in the Mangolpuri area of outer Delhi. 'The room was hired a few months back. The duo were in relationship and used to meet often,' said a police officer.
