A day after a four-year-old girl was sexually assaulted and murdered, another horrific incident was reported from Sarai Rohilla area of North Delhi where a three-and-a-half-year old toddler was sexually assaulted before being dumped into a pit on the railway tracks. However, the girl miraculously survived.
The minor went missing when she was playing outside her house with her elder sister on Monday evening. The parents along with the neighbours approached police after searching the girl for hours. The first clue was provided by her seven-year-old sister who narrated the description of the accused who lured the minor girl along with him. The girl also told that he gave her a chocolate and walked
away with her younger sister. The accused turned out to be a co-worker of the victim’s father who works in a scrap shop.
“Beerbal, the accused also resides in the same building as that of the victim’s family. That’s one reason the victim was friendly with the accused. Beerbal actually exploited his acquaintance with the minor and she didn’t raise an alarm,” said one of the neighbours.
After the child could not be found, a massive manhunt was launched to locate the girl and the accused with whom she was last seen. The parents approached the police at around 9 pm and immediately the Sarai Rohilla police formed teams to find the girl getting initial details of the accused.
The police team managed to nab the accused the same night but was shocked to hear that the accused dumped the girl in a pit near the railway tracks metres away from the house of the victim.
The accused was taken to the spot and the minor was found lying unconscious in a pit.
“I was standing on my roof when I saw the police team with the accused searching the girl early morning. It’s a horrific incident. We are scared too,” said a man who stays just near the railway tracks where the girl was dumped.
The minor was rescued and was immediately shifted to Bada Hindu Rao Hospital where she is undergoing treatment. “When we found the accused, he was in an inebriated state. He dumped the girl in the pit with an intention to kill her. We have arrested the accused under the relevant sections. The condition of the girl is stable,” said Esha Pandey, Additional DCP North.
