Minor raped by relative in north east Delhi

On Sunday a 14-year-old girl was raped by her distant relative in north-east Delhi’s Khajoori Khas area. The accused was arrested by Delhi police two days after the incident.

According to police, the victim is a school-going girl, who lives with her family in the Khajoori Khas area. According to the family, the accused would visit the victim’s residence very frequently. Her father told the police that in front of all the family members, the acccused would have healthy conversations with his daughter.

On Sunday morning, the accused identified as Rafi, came to their residence and left the house after few hours. In the evening, family members found the victim missing from the house. A search operation was carried out by them to find the girl. Her friends were also contacted in the hope that she might have visited some of her friends.

The victim’s father lodged a complaint at the police station. The the accused was also present, to ‘help’ the family in the pursuit of his daughter. Till Monday evening, the minor remained missing. Late on Monday night, the girl reached her residence and narrated the ordeal to her mother and said that Rafi had raped her.

She told her mother that on Sunday evening, he took her to his residence where no one was present. Taking advantage of the situation, he raped her and threatened her of dire consequences if she narrated the incident to anyone. He then took her to his friend’s place and left her at his residence. On Monday, the girl narrated the incident to accused’s friend who rescued the girl under the fear of being charged with criminal conspiracy. Further, the girl managed to reach her residence.

According to her statement and medical examination, the accused was arrested and confessed to his crime. ‘He has been booked under the relevant sections of IPC and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences,’ a police official said.
