A two-and-half-year-old girl was killed after a part of an under-construction building collapsed inflicting deadly head injuries to her, police said on Friday. The incident took place at Taimur Nagar extension area of the national Capital.
“Vaishnavi met with the accident while she was playing inside a house. She suffered severe head injuries and succumbed at the hospital,” police said, adding that they have registered a case against the owner of the under-construction site at the New Friends Colony police station. No one has been arrested.
She was playing in the open area inside the house along with her mother Babita Singh on Tuesday and suddenly a portion of the under-construction site collapsed on them. Her mother escaped unhurt.
“She was immediately admitted at ICU of the Holy Family hospital where she succumbed to her injuries on Thursday,” an official said.
“My daughter was playing inside the house and the portion of the under-construction house collapsed on her. The owner of the site, Ravi Singh, had not adopted safety norms that caused the mishap. Owing to his negligence, we lost our child which is very unfortunate,” said Neeraj Singh, Vaishnavi’s father.
The police, however, said that they are investigating the matter and the accused will be arrested soon.
