Close on the heels of a road rage in Bihar in which a teenager was shot dead by the son of an MLC, a minor girl was allegedly raped by the son of a woman sarpanch in the state’s Purnia district.
Purnia superintendent of police Nishant Kumar Tiwari said on Sunday the incident took place Friday last at Rangpura Dakshin village under Mirganj police station area.
The 33-year-old son of Rangpura panchayat sarpanch Azhari Khatun allegedly took the girl to a mango orchard and raped her.
The 10-year-old girl was found writhing in pain by a passerby who informed her family, the SP said, adding the victim was rushed to the Sadar hospital.
A police complaint was lodged by the girl’s father and raids are on to nab the culprit, he added. Rocky Yadav, son of JD(U) MLC Manorama Devi shot dead a youth in Gaya on May 7 in an incident of road rage.
