Minor boy dies after speeding truck hits cart from behind in East Delhi

Senior police officers of the East district confirmed that the accused driver, Chander, has been arrested after the locals handed him over to them while he was trying to flee from the spot.According to the police, the deceased has been identified as Tarun.

Police said that the incident took place at around 3.15 pm when Tarun was passing through the Geeta Colony flyover with his fruit cart when a speeding Tata mini truck rammed into him. Sources said that in the accident, however, one person escaped unhurt. One of the locals passing by made a PCR call after which police took the 16-year-old boy to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead.

Police said that Tarun’s family has been informed about the incident and his body will be handed over to them after the post-mortem is conducted.According to the police, eyewitnesses present at the spot caught hold of the errant truck driver and handed him over to the police.

“A case under Sections 304A (causing death due to negligence) and 279( rash driving) has been registered at the Geeta Colony police station. The accused truck driver has been arrested and the mini truck has also been impounded,” said a senior police official of the East district. Further investigation is underway.
