MIM legislator, RSS chief are ‘two sides of same coin’: Shivanand Tiwari

The strained relation between Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Janata Dal -United (JD-U), took a new low on Monday when JD(U)  leader Sharad Yadav, criticised Rashtriya Swamsevak Sangh(RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat for his remarks about women. 'Several statements are being made these days, the statements show their thinking and views, all these are shallow statements,' said Yadav.  He however, added that t he was yet to go through Bhagwat's remarks properly and would react to it after going through the written statement.

Yadav's fellow party leader  Shivanand Tiwari however, was harsher in criticising Bhagwat and he compared  Bhagwat with MIM leader Akbaruddin Owaisi, and said that both of them are two sides of the same coin. 'It is a primitive mindset, they are reviving the past, the philosophy of Bhagwat's organisation is that a lower caste person should be punished for sitting with a upper caste one and molten glass should be poured in his ears if he hears Sanskrit,' said  Tiwari.

The BJP however, was not too pleased with the remarks of Tiwari and asked JD(U) president Sharad Yadav, to restrain Tiwari. 'We condemn the totally unwarranted, baseless, and undignified comments made by Tiwari against RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, his observations linking Bhagwat to Owaisi is not only reprehensible but highly condemnable,' said BJP spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad.

Lashing out at the JD(U) leader, Prasad maintained that RSS has done commendable work for the uplift of tribals, Dalits and women in various fields. He pointed out that BJP-JD(U) ties go back more than 16 years.'We have fought so many elections together and have a government in Bihar, it is high time Tiwari understands the long-term relationship of BJP and JD(U),' said Prasad.

Apart from comparing Bhagwat with Owaisi, Tiwari had also questioned Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi whether he also supports Bhagwat's views on women, dalits and people from lower caste and minorites as he is also an RSS product.
