MHA denial to Sun TV channels: I&B min examining options

Update: 2015-06-09 23:24 GMT
After the denial of security clearance by the Home Ministry to 33 channels of Kalanithi Maran-promoted Sun TV Network, the I&B Ministry, which issues licences, is examining various options.

A security clearance from the Ministry of Home Affairs  (MHA) is required for companies to obtain or renew a broadcasting licence. Official sources said while the denial of security clearance could lead to cancellation of the broadcasting licences, a show-cause notice may be issued as per the principle of natural justice, with the particular party being given an opportunity to be heard first. The ministry had earlier been informed about the  MHA's decision denying security clearance to the broadcaster.
