Haryana Chief Minister, Manohar Lal said that after the completion of proposed metro projects, metro services would be extended in the state based on peoples’ needs. The Chief Minister gave out this information while he was travelling by metro from Central Secretariat (Delhi) to Badarpur Station (Faridabad) on Tuesday to attend a function. He opted for travelling via metro in a bid to save time and avoid traffic jams.
Replying to a question posed by media persons during the journey, the CM said: “I have been travelling by metro ever since the metro rail service started between Shahdara and Rithala. It would be better if we travel more by public transport systems,” adding that it is better to remain close to one’s roots and be among people; it doesn’t do any good in a democratic system for a public figure to remain distant from the masses.
On being asked about the cut in government expenditure, he said that excessive use of resources should be avoided and these should be optimally used as per need only.
