Metro set to reach Bahadurgarh

The centre has approved the extension of Metro Rail connection from Mundka in Delhi to Bahadurgarh in Haryana at a total cost of Rs 1,991 crore. The approval was accorded at a high-level meeting of the Empowered Group of Ministers [EGoM], which is headed by the defence minister A K Antony.

It will be the third Metro route to Haryana, as it already has Metro connections to Gurgaon and Faridabad. The Gurgaon Metro route is functional and the work is proceeding on an advance stage for the Faridabad link.

The finance minister P Chidambram, the urban development minister Kamal Nath, the union minister Praful Patel, the Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, the Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit and the deputy chairperson of the Planning Commission Montek Singh Ahluwalia participated in the meeting.

The route length of Delhi Metro from Mundka to Bahadurgarh in Haryana will be 11.2 kilometres. The project will cost Rs 1,991 crore. The construction work of this project will start this year and will be completed by March 2016.

Seven Metro stations will be set up at Mundka Industrial Area, Ghevra, Tikri Kalan, Tikri Border, Modern Industrial Estate, Bahadurgarh Bus Stand and City Park between Mundka and Bahadurgarh.
