The IPL spot fixing and betting verdict delivered by the Chief Justice of India RM Lodha on Tuesday was the proverbial final nail in the coffin of a probe which saw Justice Mukul Mudgal strike the first blow earlier this year having found Meiyappan and Kundra guilty on 22nd January. The latter hailed Tuesday’s verdict and said “It is a strong punishment as well as an appropriate one and will go a long way in cleansing the game of cricket.” He also stated that public faith will be restored due to the decision taken by the panel headed by Lodha. The long road of salvaging the game which the Mudgal Committee started culminated with the historic verdict on Tuesday.
