Members of ‘tyre puncture’ gang arrested by south Delhi police

Two alleged members of a gang, involved in stealing bags from cars after puncturing them at red light, have been arrested and stolen jewellery worth Rs 45 lakh and a motorcycle recovered from them. According to the police, Shiv Kumar (19) and Dalip (19), both residents of Delhi, were nabbed Thursday evening at a red light near NBCC Plaza Road, Saket by the staff of South Delhi police following a tip off.

‘In the recent past, several incidents of bag lifting from the cars by puncturing the tyres of vehicle at red lights were reported in various parts of Delhi and NCR. In order to prevent these incidents and to nab the criminals involved in such criminal activities, a special team was formed,’ said deputy commissioner of police (south) BS Jaiswal. During investigation, it was learnt that members of the bag-lifter gang known as ‘Tyre Puncture Gang’ belong to Madangir and Inderpuri area of Delhi, police said.
