Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav on Thursday alleged that his government was being targeted by opposition and media over law and order situation in the state.
‘The opposition leaders along with the TV news channels and newspapers are giving one-sided stories of the criminal incidents taking place in the state while the achievements of the state government are being ignored. If some murder takes place it is highlighted and if the culprit is arrested that is ignored,’ he said, while initiating debate on Home and General Administration department budgets in the state assembly.
‘The media was showing or publishing exaggerated crime reports and the opposition parties are trying to take political mileage from these incidents,’ he said, adding that the good work being carried out by the government comes to a naught if a crime takes place anywhere in the state. The CM said several efforts are being made for improving the law and order in the state which includes installation of CCTV cameras on prominent 70 crossings in four cities including Lucknow. Besides government has introduced GIS/GPS on police cars and on-line registration of FIRs.
