A bag pack, the property of a news channel, Kolkata TV, was stolen in south Delhi on Monday. The bag was loaded with television equipment worth Rs 20 lakh.
The incident took place around 11 am in Govind Puri area of south-east district on Monday. According to the complainant, a driver of the media house went to an employee’s residence in Govind Puri, as his number was not reachable. He returned within five minutes, just to find the bag kept on his front seat stolen.
‘The driver had locked the car doors and gone upstairs. The two cameras, along with other equipment, were back in the trunk while another bag carrying equipment worth Rs 20 lakh was on the front seat. The thieves stole the bag by breaking the left window of the car,’ added the complainant. The driver told about the theft to the owner of the media house, Saumya Bandyopadhyay, and later made a PCR call.
‘A team reached the crime spot and a complaint has been registered against unknown persons,’ said a police official.
A senior police official added that they suspect the involvement of local criminals in the stealing. ‘We are tracing out the hideouts of criminals who might be involved in the case. Also, we have sent our team to raid garbage disposable places, kabari walas and local markets. As there is a possibility that the bag pack loaded with equipments and other things might have sold out so far,’ added the official.
