MEA goes mobile!

Update: 2013-07-30 23:35 GMT
With the ministry of external affairs coming up with a mobile application - ‘MEAIndia’ - its users can now get assistance with passport, visa, and if abroad, get consular assistance, or even ask questions to the external affairs minister. Launched on Monday evening by foreign secretary Ranjan Mathai, the application will also help users find out the nearest Indian mission or post for emergency consular assistance.

The ministry’s statement said that users can also download and watch pictures and documentaries on India, share and contribute their own pictures and suggestions or even follow the prime minister on his visits abroad. The application provides useful information on Indian visas as well as visa requirements for Indians too. The external affairs minister will answer your queries directly if you participate in ‘mobile democracy’. ‘You can post your own query. The top two voted questions will be answered by the minister himself every month,’ the statement added.
