MCD vows to clear garbage in 48 hrs

 ‘Garbage politics’ in the Capital might not be <g data-gr-id="33">over</g> but garbage pile-ups in various nooks of the city could be cleared within the next 48 hours. The MCDs have claimed to put cleanliness work on <g data-gr-id="31">fast</g> track in order to remove garbage as soon as possible. 

The Corporations have informed that deployment of large number of trucks, and auto-tippers have been made under the supervision of the top brass. The MCDs have also informed of clearing nearly 8000 metric <g data-gr-id="28">tonne</g> garbage, which had been dumped during the strike of sanitation workers, in the last couple of days.

Lata Gupta, Chairman of Standing Committee of East Delhi Municipal Corporation said that she herself is ensuring garbage cleaning in EDMC area. 

“We are inspecting sanitation work. All officials including Addl. Commissioner, Deputy Commissioners and Assistant Commissioners have been asked to be present at the sites during garbage lifting. I am also inspecting myself by ensuring <g data-gr-id="23">presence</g> at <g data-gr-id="24">majority</g> of dumping sites,” said Gupta.

She assured that it will take two days to make the area clean. “729 trips of trucks of garbage has been lifted from Shahdra (South) zone while 595 trips of trucks of garbage <g data-gr-id="34">has</g> been lifted from Shadra (North) zone. Efforts are being made to clear roads for making them motorable. After clearing of garbage, from roads, disinfectants are being sprayed,” added Gupta.
