Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati’s brother, Subhash, was arrested by the Delhi Police for allegedly beating up a relative. He also behaved in an indecent manner with his relative’s wife and thrashed up a constable who attended the PCR call at south-west Delhi’s Narayana Vihar area on June 3, police said on Saturday.
According to a police source, Subhash had an argument with his relative and around 9.30 am on June 3, he went to his relative’s house at Narayana Vihar with a hockey stick. When the relative did not open the door for a long time, Subhash allegedly started banging at it with the hockey stick and broke it open in no time. The relative and his wife called up the police control room and a team of four officials were rushed to the spot immediately. Subhash reportedly continued beating up his relatives and when a constable tried to intervene, Subhash allegedly thrashed him too. Later, he was overpowered by the other police stations, who took him to the Indrapuri police station. “Subhash has been booked under Sections 186 (Obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions), 332 (Voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty), 353 (Assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 354 (Assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 452 (House-trespass after preparation for hurt, assault or wrongful restraint) and 506 (Punishment for criminal intimidation) of the IPC,” said Nupur Prasad, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (South-West).
He was produced before a court in the same day and later granted bail, the source added.
