City police has registered a FIR against five persons from Parsol village for allegedly attempting to rape a 35-year-old married woman.
The police initiated penal action after the victim after she refused to comply with an order by the village panchayat to reach with an agreement with the accused. However, no arrests have been made so far and the accused are at large.
The woman, a wife of a daily wage labourer from Parsol village in Dankaur area, had complained that her neighbours namely Yadel, Omveer, Harkesh, Kanhaiya and Rajesh had tried to rape her. She had approached the village panchayat, which directed the accused to parade the village by keeping a pair of shoes on their head.
The panchayat also ordered the victim to settle the issues as the accused were publicly punished. However the woman refused to enter the settlement and approached police to lodge a complaint. Initially the police refused to register the case. The FIR was registered only after the victim met senior police officials and narrated the police’s apathy.
‘We have filed an FIR under appropriate sections of IPC and are investigating the matter. We have been searching for the accused who are still at large,’ said a senior police official of Greater Noida police.
