Maoist leader held in Assam

A Maoist leader, who is on the most-wanted list in Chhattisgarh, was Thursday arrested in an Assam town, police said.

Anand Singh Kharwal alias Anandji, wanted in several cases in Chhattisgarh and carrying a bounty of Rs.5 lakh, was held in Tezpur.

‘The Maoist leader is a big catch for us. Based on information, a police team carried out an operation in the town and arrested him.,’ ADGP of Assam Police. Pallab Bhattacharjee said.
