Manjhi’s 'commission remark' lands him in soup

Amid uproar over the comment that he used to get "commission" in developmental projects, Bihar Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi on Friday said he used the expression symbolically to highlight that money travelled to such a high post and did not mean actually getting it.

But, Manjhi's remark has landed him in trouble with JD(U) legislator and party spokesman Niraj Kumar writing a letter to state police chief to file an FIR against the CM for admitting that he received "commission".

"I have written a letter to DGP P K Thakur that an FIR be registered against Manjhi under Anti Corruption Act, 1989 and Indian Evidence Act, 1872 saying this was a self-confessed statement and a case be registered against him (Manjhi) and the matter be sent to court for lawful action," Niraj Kumar told a news agency giving details of his letter to the DGP.
