Man thrashed to death by car thieves

A 28-year-old man was beaten to death by five persons, including two women, in North-east Delhi’s Seemapuri area on Tuesday. The accused, who are yet to be arrested, are suspected to be members of a gang of car thieves, said a police official.

The deceased was identified as Javed Khan, a resident of Shalimar Bagh area in North-west Delhi.
According to the police, the incident was reported around 8.15 pm on Tuesday, when Javed drove to Tiharpur area to meet a friend, Arif. The latter had also come there on his motorbike. Javed had left his keys inside the car with its windows rolled open, and went to the other side of the road to have a conversation with Arif. Suddenly, Javed saw someone fleeing with his Hyundai i10 car. Javed and Arif then chased the perpetrators and finally intercepted them at Seemapuri Masjid Road. 

There it turned out that as many as five persons, including two women, were sitting inside the stolen car. The duo reportedly got into an argument with the gang, that later turned into a scuffle. The accused allegedly thrashed the duo severely and fled the spot. “A case has been registered under relevant sections of the IPC and investigation has been taken up,” the official added. No arrests have been made yet.
