In a bid to avoid getting caught after killing his wife, a man disappeared with his wife’s body to cremate her at Haridwar but was finally arrested at the Vasant Vihar area of South Delhi.
According to the police, on March 17 at 10.58 pm, they got a call from a person named Anand who informed that his brother-in-law Rakesh after killing his sister Sunita has disappeared with her body.
Based on this information, police traced Rakesh at Brij Ghat near Haridwar where Rakesh was performing the last rites “A team of police apprehended him. Once brought back to Delhi, he was interrogated and Rakesh’s children also revealed that their father used to beat their mother regularly in front of them,” said a senior police official.
The deceased woman’s body was finally recovered from the river Ganga. The post-mortem report suggests that she died due to hanging. Apparently there were minor injury marks on her body.
Police have registered a case under Sections 306, 498 A and 201 of the IPC at the Vasant Vihar police station.
