An employee of Le Meridian reportedly received critical injuries on Friday after a Bentley car allegedly owned by a prominent Supreme Court advocate ran into the victim’s WagonR car at Rajpath-Mansingh crossing in the morning hours.

The victim is battling for his life in Ram Manohar Lohia hospital where he admitted immediately after the accident.

According to the police, the incident took place around 7.45 in the morning when a black-cloured Bentley coming from Rashtrapati Bhavan ran into the silver WagonR which was being driven by Joginder. The victim’s car was coming from Mansingh road and the driver had allegedly jumped the red light. ‘The crossing was perpendicular and jumping it led to the accident,’ a police official said.

The advocate’s car was being reportedly driven by his driver while the former was sitting in the back seat. Police informed that both the cars were running at high speed as a result of which the WagonR turned turtle on the road.

The driver of the WagonR got stuck inside and was rescued only when the police reached the spot after a few minutes. The police say that the call to the police control room was made by the advocate himself after the accident.

All three persons were rushed to RML Hospital where Joginder was admitted in the Intensive Care Unit while the other two injured persons, including the advocate, were discharged after the being given medical aid.

SBS Tyagi, deputy commissioner of police (New Delhi) said, ‘We received a call on the helpline number 100 about the accident. Based on the reports of the policemen who reached the spot a case against the driver has been registered at Tilak Marg police station.’
